City Boys Go Country...

A trip to Mincher today on a 'photographic assignment' for a friend... it was to photograph her dogs (seven cavs, a lab and a papillon - oh and her chickens!) so I took the boys for an outing. It's always a bonus to visit  someone who welcomes canine children.
Well. Hugo was the first to disgrace himself. My boys are not usually fond of water so when he fell in the stream I can only surmise that he didn't realise the surface weeds did not mean he could walk on water. Hardly believed when the other two followed suit. And that's not to mention almost losing them down the drive as they all took off- we presume in pursuit of rabbits.
So on the one weekend that I did not have to wash Stirling for a show, all three had to have a bath when we got home...
I then took the opportunity to photograph my own dogs when they were all squeaky clean!

At least Reilly only got wet belly-down

Cavalier Portraits

Tiki C.K.C.S Club Ribbon Parade today, and I took the opportunity to snap some of the dogs on show. Most of them are people's beloved pets, and it was great to see kids out having fun with their dogs in the ring.

In regards to cavalier's appearances, I often hear from the non-cavalier owner that "they all look the same". But I hope the personalities of these little darlings come through and show their individuality. To me they all look so different, except perhaps when they are from the same kennel.

I wanted to add a caption with each go the dog's names, but I always find Blogger's formatting a pain in the proverbial, and it threw out my picture arrangement whenever I added one so...

From L to R, reading down the page we have...

Becky, Buddy (her litter brother),
Cashelle, Nadia and Sante
Zoe, Maria
Macca

And below,  Mr Stirling. Best Intermediate, Best Dog and BEST ON PARADE.

And I will leave you with the three stooges. Not my best family portrait moment.

I'm a Little in Love with Romeo

A friend of mine has a new cavalier puppy.  His name is Romeo, and I think he's Mr McDreamy.
If I ask him to be my Valentine, do you think my boys will get the pip?

Finding your perfect match

In terms of posting a 'photo' I know that a screen shot is tenuous.

However I saw this website on Close Up by accident the other night and thought I would check it out. The aim of the NZ developed site is to match dogs needing a home with a 'physically similar' owner - you know the old adage of dogs and their owners looking alike...

Well, no cavs on the pound list (I hope) because of course my perfect match would have been one of them... but I am quite happy with the match it came up with for me. I think Elliott is pretty cute. And as a weird coincidence, some will remember that I once co-owned a cav puppy called Elliott. He was the result of a repeat mating to get another Hugo. But he went to live with a lovely family in Onehunga, and became 'Duke'.

Anyway sorry Elliott, but sadly there is no room at the inn here. Perhaps someone else will visit the Doggelganger website and be a perfect match for you also...

PS just to keep it real, I have gone back and found a photo of Elliott the Cavalier...
